Louis Plessier, known to the Romani community of Alsace as "The Guitarist of Lyon", decided to take his musical heritage overseas.

He was married to Marie Weiss, a dancer and instrumentist, niece of the legendary Django Reinhardt — the father of European Jazz.

Following Marie's tragic passing, Plessier remarried a Brazilian woman and spent his final years in Brazil.

In 2011, he moved into the home of Mauro Albert, passing on the music and culture he inherited from Marie and Django over a four-year encounter. This exchange established the Brazilian musician as one of the genre's leading international figures, yielding concerts, videos, and a posthumous album featuring compositions by both artists.

To tell this story, the docudrama directed by Clara Clarice (Kali), a student of Mauro, leads us from the origins of the Romani migration from India to medieval Europe, culminating in the birth of Gypsy Jazz (or Jazz Manouche).

Driven by the captivating rhythm of jazz manouche and its ancestral roots, with musical direction by Mauro Albert himself, the film brings together unpublished footage of the encounters between Mauro and Plessier, alongside scenes and testimonies recorded in India, the region of Andalusia (Spain), Lyon and Paris (France), and in the states of Pernambuco and Santa Catarina (Brazil).

The narrative, led by the director herself in the role of Marie Weiss, unfolds as a posthumous legacy. By weaving a feminist perspective into the diaspora, the film gives voice to historically silenced women and highlights the strength of cultural transmission within the bond between Django, Marie, Plessier, Mauro, and Clara.
